The Center Sponsors the Expanding 10,000 Steps Program, Three Years Running
The Center for Physical Rehabilitation is the proud sponsor of the 10,000 Steps Program for the third year in a row. Over 200 staff members from Forest Hills Public Schools and 75 staff members from Byron Center High School are taking strides to support local charities. The Center challenges the staff at each of the schools to take 10,000 steps per day towards a healthier lifestyle, a program that was orginally founded by The American Heart Association. This year the fitness challenge will support Kids' Food Basket and the Byron Center Benevolence Fund. The program starts January 16th in Byron Center and January 23rd in Forest Hills and lasts six weeks. Visit our Facebook page for updates on this event.

Holiday Break Conditioning Program
The Certified Sportsmetrics professionals are offering a 5 session conditioning program for athletes who are high school aged and above.

Join The Center for a Running Injury Prevention Workshop
Find out what you can do over the winter to help avoid running injuries during the race season. If you are a new runner or want to start running, this workshop will give you the tools that you need to help reduce your risk of injury.

This complementary workshop is open to everyone and will be beneficial to both experienced and novice runners.
The Center to host Golf Injury Prevention Workshop
This workshop will be presented by Matt Miller, Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute. Learn how you can gain distance, accuracy and power within your golf game while decreasing your risk of injury. For more information click on the flyer at the left.

Throwers Injury Prevention Workshop

Brian Gilbert, Senior Director of Physical Therapy for The Center for Physical Rehabilitation, appointed to the Michigan Board of Physical Therapy.
Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Mark Epolito of Haslett, Brian Gilbert of Grand Rapids and Ajay Middha of Midland to the Michigan Board of Physical Therapy. The board is responsible for the supervision and licensing of physical therapists in Michigan and has the authority to take disciplinary actions against licensees who may adversely affect the public's health, safety and welfare. Two Additional Physical Therapists Become McKenzie Certified
Congratulations to Mindy Simon and David Tyler, two of our physical therapist who have recently become McKenzie Certified practioners. The Center now has eight McKenzie Certified therapists on staff, with one at each of our four Grand Rapids area locations. The McKenzie Method is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education that is trusted and used by practitioners and patients all over the world for back, neck, and extremity problems. The Center and Forest Hills Public Schools Team Up to Take Strides and Raise Money for Cancer Research
Several staff members from the Forest Hills Public School District are walking to help Pediatric Research. The fitness challenge "Healthy Husky" sponsored by The Center for Physical Rehablitation, challenges each participant to log 10,000 per day everyday until February 20th. Healthy Husky 2011
The Center is proud to be sponsoring the Healthy Husky Project for the second year. The Center is challenging the staff at FHN to take 10,000 steps per day towards a healthier lifestyle. This year FHN High School added FHN Middle School and Northern Trails to the challenge. The money raised from this event wil be donated to the P.O.R.T. Program at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

Sportsmetrics Now Available at The Center
The Center for Physical Rehabilitation is excited to announce the introduction of Cincinnati SportsMedicine’s Sportsmetrics™ to their line up of specialty programs. This scientifically proven training program increases jump height, improves hamstring and quadriceps strength and symmetry, improves landing mechanics, and reduces the risk of serious injury. The Center is currently offering its Sportmetrics Program to students at three area schools. Catherine's Care Center Fundraiser
One day a month from October to Feburary the staff at The Center will be wearing jeans for a $5.00 donation to raise money for Catherines Care Center.Catherine's Care Center is a non-profits community based healh facility dedicated to serving low-income, uninsured residents of Northeast Grand Rapids. The Center is sponsoring a 6 week long 10,000 steps project with the staff at Forest Hills Northern High School. The Healthy Husky project is challenging the staff at FHN to take 10,000 steps a day towards a healthier lifestyle. The money raised from this event will be donated to the “YMCA Healthy U” program, this program aims to help kids learn about healthier living, making positive choices, building stronger character and reinforcing values.

Walker Location Open House The Center was pleased to host an Open House for our new Walker location on Thursday June 18th. Bill Simonson from the HUGE show did a remote broadcast from the location and with about 60 people, we had a good turnout and were happy to show the community what our new facility has to offer.
Byron Bank Run Look for CPR employees in the annual Byron Bank 5k Run/Walk on July 25th. Look for The Center's booth on Friday July 24th when you come to pick up your packets.
Tigers Fans All a Board On June 7th, CPR took its employees and their families via charter bus to a Detroit Tigers Baseball Game to watch the Tigers defeat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 9-6.
Reeds Lake Run Continuing to invest in our employee's health, CPR funded the registration fee for employees who wanted to participate in the Bank of America, Reeds Lake Run. Congrats to the 7 employees who participated in the race.
Light the Night Walk The last Friday of the month from now until October staff members have the ability to wear jeans with a $5.00 donation. The donations are going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for their Light the Night Walk held on Saturday, October 10th; this event helps raise funds for cures.
Relay for Life For the fourth consecutive year, The Center for Physical Rehabilitation was proud to support the American Cancer Society by taking part in Relay for Life at North Rockford Middle on May 15, 2009. This year, the Relay was able to raise $336,000 bringing the 7 year total to more than $2.1M in funds to help the American Cancer Society fight cancer!!
5/3 Riverbank Run On May 9, 2009, The Center for Physical Rehabilitation took part in the annual 5/3 Riverbank Run in Grand Rapids. Thirteen of the Center's employees took part in the run, and their 10k team finished 3rd in the corporate division. The Center is proud of it's participants for completing the race and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
On May 8, the day before the race, The Center also took part in the Riverbank Run Expo. It was a great success and our booth had many inquiries regarding injury prevention and rehabilitation. We look forward to another exciting race in 2010.
TOPS in Grand Rapids Chris Nawrocki, Physical Therapist and Chief Operations Officer, was named the #1 Physical Therapist in Grand Rapids by the Grand Rapids Press "TOPS in GR" for 2008.
