A good day at work includes: Although there are times we, as athletic trainers, feel ignored or underappreciated, days of gratitude go a long way for us. Over the years, receiving a simple email, card, or phone call acknowledging my hard work makes all the difference in a stressful or busy work week, reassuring me of the importance of my career choice.
The best part of my job is that I get to stay active all day! Every day is different. I’m always learning; no injury is the same person to person; healing rates differ, personalities vary, and the healthcare field is ever changing.
The most rewarding part of my job is building an influential environment for my student athletes is extremely important to me. In today’s world, respect isn’t easy to come by but once earned is extremely rewarding.
Something that might surprise you about me is that in the summer of 2002, I was given the opportunity to travel to Europe with my high school choir for 2 weeks; touring and performing in London, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.
My very first job was working at a baseball and softball training facility in Spring Lake, MI, as a receptionist and a pitching instructor for 2 years.
