What is The Center’s Return to Sport Program?

Athlete doing high knee exercise

Some athletes finish their time in physical therapy (PT) and are ready to hit the ground running, however, most are not. Here at The Center for Physical Rehabilitation, we understand that the transition from PT to the field, court, or ice can be a difficult one. The opportunity to bridge this gap is why we developed our Return to Sport Program.

Functional Movement Screen

We start this program with a Functional Movement Screen. This helps gauge where the athlete is in their functional movement, strength, and power, and where they need to go. The program also includes instruction on proper strength training form and advanced exercises that help duplicate what is required for the athlete’s specific sport. There is an emphasis on agility with proper technique to change direction in order to decrease another possible injury. Jumping mechanics and power are also included to ensure safety when the athlete returns to sport.

The interaction and communication between our team members is crucial to the success of our program. We use qualified physical therapists, physical therapists assistants, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning specialists with high credentials and with experience working with rehabbing athletes.

No only do we work with young athletes eager to get back to their sport, we also work with adults struggling with an injury or who are noticing some deficits in their function. See below for a success story from Mark!
