Pediatric occupational therapist Kelsey Kerby shares tips for helping your child get used to wearing a mask. Children with sensory processing issues may need additional steps to become comfortable with mask wearing, but for all kids it is a big change.
Keep in mind the CDC guidelines, that recommend children under the age of 2 do not wear a mask, for more mask guidelines visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/DIY-cloth-face-covering-instructions.pdf .
Check out Kelsey’s video here to learn about how to use play, communication, education and a little grace to help your little one get used to wearing a mask.
In this video, Kelsey references a Ninja Obstacle Course game from another Pediatric therapist, view that game here.
